what doesn't kill you supposedly makes you stronger; but sometimes it breaks you so hard, for so long, you forget what strength is - me

my interpretation: the video starts off with her in a seemingly bad place, the very visual portrayal of her making love instantly catches your attention; one instantly thinks she is unhappy with the relationship she has now, her face showing tell-tale signs of unhappiness; she is clearly distraught.

she then goes into a flashback as she turns to face her childhood toy, she recalls the harsh times she endured as a kid, “mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood” ever since she was a kid; p!nk then appears and seems to be singing to the girl, the song is then in my opinion, an ode to her younger self, telling her what she wished she knew then, she is perfect. no matter what people say. no matter what people think. she was always left out as a child, always different, always on the outside looking in. even her parents didn’t understand her. they didn’t try. they didn’t see her as perfect. she would always comfort herself. when she was down. when she was alone. she was always alone. or so she thought, those days when she didn’t know.

the video then pans over to how she never thought she was beautiful. she was never conventionally “pretty”. she wasn’t skinny, blonde and optimistic. she wanted so badly to be normal sometimes. to be like the other girls. she never believed she was “perfect”. she tried. she tried hard. to fit in. to be like THEM. to do the things they did. she never could. she tries hard to convince herself, to tell herself words she never believed. she even tries to engrave the words on her very skin. she never believed it her entire life. she couldn’t. because she was the only one that thought so. but she wanted to try. so hard. try to believe. her childhood toy then pans on in again, now a symbol of her solidarity and the isolation she went through being her throughout the course of her painful journey. being different. being special. special. she then lops off all her hair, she’s had enough. of trying. trying to be like THEM. trying to be a normal “pretty girl”. she realises SHE DEFINES what beauty is. long haired, tall and skinny is what she used to define THEM. she was her own person. she then paints herself: flawed, scarred, batterred, bruised and she smiles. she finally realizes she’s beautiful. she finally believes it. then p!nk once again appears and raises her glass, she finally understands the message of the song at this point. then she meets him. the person who sees everything she never could see in her herself. she is perfect. that same man is in her bed - they had a child together.

now she is stepping into her daughters bedroom, teddy bear in hand, it is clear now she was distraught earlier on because she was thinking about her daughter and how she might go through the same thing. she then passes on the teddy bear, the symbol now a figurative “torch”; she hopes it gives her the strength she had to muster herself as a kid. she then feels the urgency to tell her daughter “she is perfect”. because she then realises, the only reason she felt the way she did her ENTIRE life, the only reason she went through that much self-loathing, sadness and misery: nobody told her that. nobody told HER she was perfect.

lines in the sand.

lines drawn in the sand, you built a castle without me on your side as i dug a hole leading to you, only to be crushed as both our worlds collapsed into an unrecognizable mess of what once was.

i hate my hair.

everybody wants perfect hair. your own never seems to look right. even with constant re-invention, you can never get it to look like in the movies or tv. like GOSSIP GIRL. WHAT IS UP WITH GOSSIP GIRL? perfect hair. everywhere. if only reality was like that. once i slipped a curling iron underneath my sister while she was sleeping, SHE WOKE UP WITH A CURL IN HER HAIR! haha. A CURL. as in one. still looked NOTHING like blair’s. (she must have the curly-hair fairies on her side) just watched gg jnow and now i wanna change my hair. maybe something fringy. the stupid hair spray i use gets sticky and makes white stuffs come out. i look like tiny little birds made precision poops on my head while i stood there twirling my head round, getting it perfectly even everywhere. haha. okay it’s not THAT bad. i exaggerate abit sometimes. :/ precision poops. the way i always do it. haha. (no idea what that means) so anws gunna use difeerent stuffs maybe? slightly looking forward to tmr. gnights! ;)
